A CHARTER ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 AND 7 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NUMBER 20-2000 EXEMPTING THE CITY OF PARK CITY, KANSAS, FROM CERTAIN OF THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 14-201 AND K.S.A. 14-301 AS THEY RELATE TO THE POWER OF APPOINTMENT OF THE CITY CLERK AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE, TO THE LIMITATION ON THE TERM TO BE SERVED BY THE CITY CLERK AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND TO THE SUPERVISION OF THE CITY CLERK AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE; AND REPEALING THE ORIGINALS OF SAID SECTIONS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF PARK CITY, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.          The City Clerk and the Chief of Police shall be hired by majority vote of the governing body.  The City Administrator, with the assistance of a selection committee, shall solicit applications, conduct interviews and otherwise identify qualified candidates to serve in these positions when the same shall become vacant.  Such selection committee shall identify to the governing body at least one (1) but not more than three (3) qualified and recommended candidates to fill any such vacancy and such selection committee may recommend as highly qualified not more than one such candidate.  The governing body shall consider the recommendations and may select any of the candidates recommended by the selection committee.

SECTION 2.          The term of office of the City Clerk and the Chief of Police shall be indeterminate.  The City Clerk and the Chief of Police shall be compensated, supervised, and disciplined in accordance with the Personnel Manual of the City of Park City.

SECTION 3.          The originals of Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Charter Ordinance 20-2000 are hereby repealed.
