A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF PARK CITY, KANSAS, FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF K.S.A. 14-201 THAT PERTAINS TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS BEING ELECTED TO TWO-YEAR TERMS, PROVIDING FOR AND SUBSTITUTING PROVISIONS FOR THE SAME AND REPEALING CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 23-2000.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF PARK CITY, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Election to Exempt. The City of Park City, Kansas (the “City”), a city of the second class, by power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas; hereby elects to exempt itself from and make inapplicable to it, the provisions of K.S.A. 14-201 that limit City Council members to being elected to two year terms.
SECTION 2. Terms for City Council Members. City Council members shall continue to be elected for four (4) year terms as was approved in Charter Ordinance No. 23-2000. Elections shall be held in 2005 and every four years thereafter for City Council member positions that expire in 2005. Elections shall be held in 2007 and every four years thereafter for City Council member positions that expire in 2007.
SECTION 3. Full Force and Effect. Other provisions of K.S.A. 14-201, except as modified in this Charter Ordinance and in charter ordinances heretofore or hereafter adopted, shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4. Repeal of Charter Ordinance No. 23-2000. Charter Ordinance No. 23-2000 is hereby repealed.
