There is hereby created a Historian Board. The Board shall consist of seven members.

The members of the Historian Board shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City, with the consent of the City Council. The members of the Board first appointed shall serve respectively for terms of one year and two years. Thereafter, all members shall be appointed for terms of two years each. All terms shall commence the first day of June. Three of the members first appointed shall serve until June 30, 2021; and four shall serve until June 30, 2022. In case of death, incapacity, resignation, or disqualification of any member, appointment to such a vacancy on the Board shall be made as herein provided for only the unexpired term of the member leaving the membership. Members shall continue on the Board at the conclusion of their term of service until they are either reappointed or their successor is appointed. Members of the Board shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for expenses actually incurred in the performance of their duties.

The Historian Board is hereby created by the City of Park City under the Home Rule Authority, granted to all cities in the state of Kansas 1961 by amendment to the Kansas constitution (Art. 12, Sec. 5). The Historian Board shall have the duties and responsibilities of planning, development and coordination of the City’s historic preservation activities. The Board shall also be responsible for coordinating with local area civic and non-profit organizations on other activities and events related to the preservation of the history of Park City.

The Historian Board shall upon appointment, meet and organize, adopt the bylaws and elect a chairman or presiding officer and a secretary and such other officers as may deem necessary. Officers shall hold office for terms of one year. Thereafter, officers shall be elected annually.
